Jason Ajemian Coming Back to Farm 255

Back in April, I wrote about an upcoming Farm 255 gig by Jason Ajemian and the High Life: "Some jazz artists revel in the conventional, inviting their audiences to share once again the familiar delights of the melodies and harmonies of the American Songbook. Other jazz artists chafe at the constraints of melodic and harmonic convention, itching to step into the street, metaphorically, and knock people’s hats off, carrying audiences far from shore to experience the exotic beauty that lies near the boundary between structure and noise. Here in Athens, Dan Nettles and his Kenosha Kid jazz collective tend toward this restlessness of musical spirit, and Dan is recommending that we join him to hear from some other explorers of far musical seas, Jason Ajemian and the High Life."

Next Wednesday, October 6, the ensemble will return to Athens for two performances at Farm 255: 9 pm and 11 pm.

Jeremy Roberts Quartet at 283 Bar

Cine041

Here's more on Chuck's heads-up about tonight's gig at 283 Bar. Drummer Nic Wiles, last heard by us a week ago with Dave D'Angelo at Hendershot's, will join three veterans of Sonny Got Blue -- Jeremy Roberts on guitar, Steve Key on keys, and Patrick Atwater (also backing Dave last week) on bass. Jeremy will be out front, with the combo calling itself the Jeremy Roberts Quartet. First tune around 8. No cover.

Don't Miss!

Hi, folks! Just got word from drummer Nic Wiles that he will be playing at Club 283 this Thursday. Steve Key will be joining him on piano, Patrick Atwater on bass, and Jeremy Robertson on guitar. This should be a great set, so you definitely don't want to miss it!

Grogus will be performing at Melting Point Saturday night, so make plans now to stay up late and catch some fantastic Latin/Afro-Cuban music. If you have never seen Grogus, you're in for a real treat! Show starts at 10.

Hope you enjoy!
